Junior Interpreter Programs

Summer Junior Interpreter Program

002 - CopyDates: Thursdays in June and July
Time: 6 to 8 p.m.
Program Fee: Free of Charge
Ages accepted: 14 to 19 years (rising 9th grader through high school)

During the summer, JIs meet for two hours once a week for eight weeks training to become tour guides at the Davenport House Museum. Once training is complete, JIs are evaluated on their skills followed by the culminating activity, which is Junior Interpreter Day, when the museum is open to the public and staffed with JIs.

Qualifications:

  • An interest in history, architecture and/or museums
  • A pledge to participate in the program and give at least one tour to the public
  • The commitment to fulfill volunteer duties in an appropriate manner

A limited number of spaces are available.

Savannah Arts Academy Junior Interpreter

The program is offered to 15 American history students.
